The Inside Stories Electronic Book (E-Book) is an interactive version of the Big Book, supplied on CD-ROM. It is designed to support and extend the use of the book through comprehension, writing, and sentence and word work. A wide range of activities can be completed easily and efficiently on screen, enabling students to develop computer skills at the same time as they apply and extend their literacy skills. Sample activities include: Editing the existing text of the story or creating a new version; for example, a retelling from a particular character's point of view. Adding speech and/or thought bubbles throughout the story. Writing responses to texts in the book, such as a reply to a letter or a summary of a factual text. Writing in a variety of genres using the texts from the Big Book as models. Experimenting with word substitution, to develop vocabulary skills. Deciding where and how to punctuate text that has had punctuation removed.
