Whether you're planning a ramble with the family, a romantic stroll in the countryside, or a relaxed lunch with friends plus the option to walk it off, this guide offers a number of suggestions for great walks and reliable pubs. It details over 50 walks in the south-east of England, from the South Downs to the Chilterns. Each is comprehensively described, with easy-to-follow directions and a specially drawn map. Each (circular) route has its own special character - fine scenery, rivers, lakes or wildlife, for example - and features at least one pub, many of them speically recommended. Information for each walk includes length and duration - from 4 to 8 miles, and difficulty - walks are graded (from easy to energetic) according to how taxing they are. Also included is information on how to reach the starting point of each walk (by public transport or by car, and where to park) and pub locations.
