Self-Ie Reflections: a Blogetry Collection

📖 The Scoop

Poets have many labels and tend to write under one main description. I always thought of myself as a Confessional Poet, brutally self-dissecting in the name of art. I suppose it is fitting to name my book after the 21st Century's major pastime, the taking of pictures of oneself, by oneself, also known as "selfies." I'm not the type of poet who writes metaphorically, preferring to speak in plain language and write about many topics including music, love, loneliness, memoir, aging, magic, outer space, politics, nature, women, and writing. Now that I've played the ukulele for over a year, I fancy myself a songwriter--or lyricist--and have chorded some of my poems. I don't read music but have memorized scads of chords so the songs (only a few included in this book) are really not Grammy-quality but so much fun! Anyway, someone remarked that I really was not a poet, just a blogger who writes stuff a few words per line. I came up with the word "Blogetry" (although like Poe, we'll see if I have fans in about a century). Others may have used that word, too. If so, I've never seen it but I haven't plagiarized the word nor will I feel that you have plagiarized from me if you use it. I just hope you, Dear Reader (love the Victorians), enjoy and can possibly relate to what is contained in this book. Thank you!
