Improving Strategic Decision-making with Evidence-based Management : a Public Sector Case Study

This case study explored the engagement between federal leaders while implementing the evidence-based management framework to inform the best strategic decisions. The methodological approach applied intervention research (IR) with nexus analysis and interdiscursivity, examining the relationships of dual-process, critical thinking, and integrative complexity. The result of this study provides a value proposition for how to nudge those organizational decisions when supported by the best evidence. Such a reflective experiential learning lens proved beneficial, partially filling a void in the academic-practice research and suggesting an approach for the dedicated public sector practitioner pursuing the intention of those the federal statutes requiring data-informed, evidence-based outcomes in service to the interests of the American public.
