📖 The Scoop
**** The third edition (on Reagan) is cited in BCL3. Dye (political science, Florida State U.) combines a theoretical and practical analysis of institutional power with critical profiles of the individuals and groups at the top of the institutional structures of American society. He includes not only the Washington leadership in the Bush administration, but also recent developments in corporate governance and influence. His profiles are somewhat idiosyncratic (he's completely uncritical of Reagan, extremely critical of Ted Kennedy, and balanced in his treatment of Jesse Jackson), but on the whole well-informed and engagingly written. Primarily an undergraduate text, but with appeal for nonacademics. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
Genre: History / United States / 20th Century (fancy, right?)
