The federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) came into effect January 1, 1991 and applies to most goods and services, including property, purchased in Canada. There are a variety of operators in the private woodlot sector, including provincial and federal government officials involved in delivering forestry-targeted financial assistance programs who are affected by the tax.
