With an indication of what is being done by others (Galatians), he excites them to compete, offering them this in the form of a narrative, as he did in the letter to the Romans, where, explaining to them the reason for his departure to Jerusalem, he says, among other things, about alms: "But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints. For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints" ( Rom. 15:25-26) He disposes of alms to the example of the Macedonians and Corinthians (here, in the letter to the Romans, he recalls the alms collected by order, of which we are speaking), and these are examples of the Galatians. They were ashamed to be below the Galatians. - "It's better to build in the churches of Galatia . " He didn't say: I persuaded, or advised, but "arranged" by which great power is expressed; He cited as an example not one city, not two, not three, but an entire nation, as he did in relation to dogmas: it says, "in all churches of the saints" ( 1 Cor. 14:33 ), for if such a conviction is strong for belief in dogma it is even stronger in relation to deeds. What, tell me, did you arrange?"...He did not say: satisfy all her needs, but: give her a helping hand and help her, what will she have for you.
