📖 The Scoop
Wood-based panels must provide adequate performance at an acceptable price. Selection from the wide range of panels now available is not an easy task. Parts 1-6 of Digest 477 describe the various types available. This part brings together the latest available technical information for each and gives guidance on the types and grades (technical classes) that should be used for the main categories of use in construction. Tables list the types and minimum grades that should be in use in flooring, roofing, sheathing, structural applications, cladding, fascias and soffits, internal linings, partitions and ceilings, internal joinery and formwork (excluding lining). For wood-based panels that are used in construction within Europe, this Digest demonstrates how mandatory compliance with the Construction Products Directive can be achieved by using the new European Harmonised Standard for wood-based panels (EN 13986) together with its supporting European materials specifications.
