A Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy for British Columbia

The strategy presented in this document reflects a desire to enhance the co-ordination & delivery of youth entrepreneurship programs & services across British Columbia. It begins with background on youth employment, the importance of entrepreneurship as an alternative for youth, and findings of research & consultations carried out to develop the strategy. The developed strategy follows, with discussion of key issues and lists of recommendations for action under eight key elements: youth entrepreneurship as a career option, co-ordination of services, access & awareness of programs & services, the role of the education system, gaps in service delivery, sectoral partnership, meeting the needs of Aboriginal youth, and provision of specialized services for specific youth groups.
