Whatever we do it must not be hostile to reason. Otherwise it not only won't work but also can't work. Our challenge then is to embrace reason with serious intent. This is best done by employing the principles of critical thinking. While critical thinking has largely been abandoned in favor of political correctness and partisanship, it is time for this to change. Consider this series a crash course.
Critical thinking is most effective in solving problems, even exceptionally big problems, and transcends politics. Increasingly, people are realizing that as a nation we must above all else learn (or relearn) how to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
This book, and its companions, will engage the reader in all aspects of critical thinking. We will look at some national issues like the sovereign debt crisis facing most industrial societies. But this discussion, which is based on the principles of critical thinking, is nonpartisan and represents a compelling alternative to the often-ineffective conventional wisdom.
