"Men with learning disabilities who sexually abuse in an updated version of the previously published Response-Ability. It has been written for staff and managers in learning disability services who are working with men whose sexual behaviour impinges unacceptably on others. It focuses on the everyday management of the men's behaviour rather than on complex but isolated clinical interventions. This manual includes photocopiable activities and case checklists, and is written to help services : .clearly identify when sexual behaviour has crossed acceptable boundaries .understand some of the factors which might lead to unacceptable and abusive sexual behaviour .maintain a respectful approach to the men, despite the fat that their behaviour is unacceptable .draw up clear plans and agreed strategies .protect other service users and staff from unwanted sexual behaviour or harassment .co-ordinate input across different services settings and with a range of professionals and clinicians. The manual works through the stages of assessment and information gathering, and provides a framework for establishing clear contracts and an agreed mandate for supervision of, and support for, the men. The aim is for services to develop "response-ability" in situations where failure to act is the worst option of all."
