📖 The Scoop
The book contains the transcribed war diaries of Captain George F. Kearney (1877-1957) of Detroit Michigan from September 1917 to January 1919. Capt. Kearney served with the Army Air Service in France as commander of the 469th and 400th Aero Squadrons at Issoudun and Orly. While at Issoudun, he became managing editor and reporter for the "Plane News", the Air Service's official newspaper. The diary records his day-to-day life, and includes references to many of the pioneers of American military aviation, including Eddie Rickenbacker, Generals Mason Patrick and Benjamin Foulois, Col. Walter Kilner and Maj. Carl "Tooey" Spatz. The annotations include more than 150 images, many taken from the Captain's personal photograph album.
