Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, Marylin Monroe was an American model, actress and icon. Discovered while working in a factory during WWII she soon began a successful career as a pin-up model. By the early 50s she was on her way to a successful movie career as both a comedic and dramatic actor. In 1953 she was caught up in scandal relating to nude photos she had taken years earlier, but that scandal only seemed to help her career. She co-starred with some of the most famous actors of her day. Her high profile husbands: baseball legend Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller, only added to her public persona. From the first cover of Playboy Magazine to her birthday salute to John F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe could always steal the show.
