"Dwight C. "Bill" Baum is the story of a life fully lived. This book takes us from Baum's birth in 1912 in Syracuse, New York to his delightful discovery of brandied peaches as a toddler. We share his sense of nostalgia as he tells about visitng his grandfather's family and growing up in a loving family with a famous father. We learn about his warm friendships, his education, his challenging career. Bill Baum had an insatiable curiosity for anything technical. We meet Jim Wyld, his best friend and bona fide rocket scientist and get to go along for the ride. Baum worked with the British Air Commission during Roosevelt's Lend-Lease program and his interesting stories of a world turned upside down give the reader a behind-the-scenes view of WWII. Baum became fascinated by the investment business as a teenager and later became entrenched in the intriguing world of high finance. At 89, he died (June 2002) after a brief illness. He was appalled at the loss of integrity in corporate America and he spent his final evenings listening to the news about the Enron scandal. He shares those thoughts with us in his memoir."--Jacket
