📖 The Scoop
The mystery of things explores the connection in art and in life between two Australian painters, Margaret Olley and David Strachan, via their shared dedication to the genre of still life painting. Olley and Strachan met in Sydney in the 1940's, travelled through Europe in the 1950's and lived near each other in Sydney in the 1960's. Following Strachan's untimely death in a car accident in 1970, Olley used Strachan's Paddington Street home as her studio. Here she completed a compelling series of still life and interior paintings.
Genre: Art / General (fancy, right?)
