A report on excavations undertaken by the author on behalf of the British Museum which examined 37 tombs in an area to the south of Tell Umm Hammad, close to the River Jordan. All but one of the tombs belonged to the Early Bronze IV period and dated to the last quarter of the 3rd millennium BC, a time characterised by semi-sedentary occupation. Most tombs were shaft tombs but two were stone-lined graves. Well-illustrated.
