"When one member of the Body of Christ suffers, all suffer. In response to Jesus' teachings, our parish communities are called to respond to suffering with compassion and love. Yet, it can be challenging to know how to respond appropriately, especially in times of urgent need. This resource provides contemporary context and guidance for pastorally responding to difficult situations such as acts of violence, natural disasters, sudden deaths or accidents, and threats against human dignity. It will help integrate these important needs into Sunday Mass, prepare prayer, catechize and form the assembly, and minister directly to those who suffer-both in the immediate aftermath of a situation and in the long-term planning of the parish community. It will be sure to inspire Catholic communities to be the hands and feet of Christ during difficult times"--
