CHORDING the CARDS and OTHER POEMS

📖 The Scoop

One dark and stormy night (it is always dark and stormy in summer Florida) I was reading my tarot cards and while looking at the Empress and Emperor, who actually came together for once, I heard the baritone ukulele chords of A minor and E minor and I thought: train, parallel tracks, separate but equal. As I turned over another card, I heard another chord and so on. The visual tarot was finally singing a song, resonating in my soul. These poems are born from the audio magic of my life. I tell you I am not a musician. I don't know musical notation. I strum, instead of finger pick, memorized chords. I tell you this because if one in one thousand of you wants to play an instrument, I strongly encourage you to teach yourself as I did. It is fun. It is spiritual. My breasts, larger with age, press against the guitar/ukulele. Physically, it reverberates in my heart, causing a spiritual experience as I play. Although I can never perform for others, I do it for myself (and my dogs, the perfect audience). My aging voice and fingers bring me joy and this acoustic instrument electrifies me, hearing not only my own compositions, but most of all, songs by the musicians who enriched my life over the years. All art is produced by all the senses, including the sixth one. I hope you enjoy my poems and see what led me to each melody...
