Helping Hands Press is proud to release their first "Uplifting Devotionals" bundle! Each month a new bundle of Devotionals will be released featuring different HHP authors. We plan to offer a variety of themes and perspectives with these bundles. The inaugural offering features Murray Pura, Patti J. Smith, Linda Wood Rondeau, David Stearman and Randall K. Harp. Below you will find what the title and theme of their Devotional is. Murray Pura- "Streams" Mingling personal anecdotes with Scriptural wisdom in Streams: Seeking God in the Waters of Scripture, author and pastor Murray Pura explores the many ways water is portrayed in the Bible. From creation---when the earth was formed from water---to its possession by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob for their flocks. From the exodus and the parting of the Red Sea to the time of the prophet Elisha and the healing of Namaan the Syrian in the Jordan River. From the rise of the kingdom under David to the fall of the kingdom and Israel's exile by the waters of Babylon. In all these dramatic events, and many more, Pura demonstrates how the physical and symbolic representation of water in ancient Scripture offers you, as a modern Christian, new insights about following Christ. Patti J. Smith- "A Mended Heart- Rosary Meditations On Forgiveness" Forgiveness is very important step in our faith journey and also the most difficult. We are affected every day by hurtful events and regardless how grievous the offenses, forgiveness is imperative. We have all been hurt by others, witnessed hurt or caused it ourselves. If we are not open to forgiveness, these hurts will fester and imprison us in a world of hopelessness, grief, resentment and anger which, in turn, distances us from God. Randall K. Harp - "Illumine Me" Part I of Illumine Me contains 20 brief devotionals categorized into 4 sections representing important themes in the Bible and in Christian life: Knowing Him, For His Glory, Love Thy Neighbor and Pressing Onward. Containing numerous Bible passages and references, Illumine Me will enhance both one's own Bible literacy and devotional life. Linda Wood Rondeau -" I Prayed for Patience God Gave Me Children" Parenting is the hardest job in the world. God knows we are frail and forgives our mistakes. What's more, He stands in the gap, making up for our deficiencies. "I believe God invented parenting to show us His wisdom, grace, and mercy as our Father," says Rondeau. Parents are also God's children, experiencing the same chaos, misadventure, and heartache as their charges, humorously demonstrated through a compilation of vignettes, quotes, illustrations, and witticisms. David Stearman- "Encouraging Word - 30 Days of Uplift" I couldn't help chuckling as I pulled into the church parking lot. "David Stearman Tonight," read the marquis, "Not a discouraging Word Will Be Heard." This was not the first time I'd been accused of being a Pollyanna, although my natural temperament was really not to blame. My optimism stems from God's Word. The daily study of verses like Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future," tends to affect one's outlook over time. That's why I wrote this devotional. I want to encourage you with some of the scriptures God has used to encourage me. Focusing on His positive promises generates faith for a brighter future. And we all need more faith, since life on this planet can prove challenging, and faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
