📖 The Scoop
Annotation Published for 20 years, this handbook, which is cited in Books for College Libraries, 3d ed., contains information on 1,500 hazardous chemicals; (600 appeared in the first edition, 800 in the second, and 1,300 in the third). Each entry is substantial with numerous subheadings that address the molecular formula, common formula, synonyms, CAS registry number, description, permissible exposure limits in air, points of attack, first aid, shipping, fire extinguishing, and disposal method. Eight appendices include lists of oxidizing materials, the DOT ID cross index, and the molecular formula cross index. Most material was garnered from publications of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, the EPA, and Sax's Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials Report. Former Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey writes a foreword to the third edition (1991) which is reprinted in this edition--it calls for the proper disposal and use of hazardous chemicals but not for limits on production.
