📖 The Scoop
Henry George (1839-1897), was a newspaperman, economist, and the author of Progress and Poverty, (1879) as well as a number of other books. He believed that a single tax on land would meet all the costs of government and even leave a surplus, besides unburdening labor and capital of taxes on their output. His theories have influenced tax legislation in Australia and in parts of Canada, and in certain nations of western Europe. This biography was written by his son and originally published in 1900.
