She had desperately hoped to leave her demons and humiliation behind, but a series of vicious killings with an undeniable trademark have her questioning all she ever believed in. The body count mounts and the available evidence points to only one conclusion: The Butcher has returned. Once again, the two women will be drawn into the killer's game of torment, where only an old woman and her knowledge of Scottish mythology holds the key to the killer's identity and the quest they will have to undertake to destroy him. Brodie and Scott will have to confront not only their inner demons, but also a savage, remorseless killer that should not exist beyond the realm of nightmares.
